The Association

MP News Header Rev AThe Mapperley Park Residents Association is a community group.  As dictated by our Constitution the object of the Association shall be the conservation, preservation and improvement of the amenities of Mapperley Park Estate and adjoining areas.

The Association is open to all residents in Mapperley Park and its borders, an area with around 2,500 households.  Our purpose is to work on behalf of the local community for the betterment of the area and its residents.  We are an active, democratic, non-political group.  The Association celebrates the present vitality of Mapperley Park, as well as its history, and works with the local authority, Nottingham City Council.

1.  We aim to give residents a voice on local issues that are important to you. As a co-ordinated group, we can lobby much more effectively with a unified voice.

How is this achieved?

  • The Mapperley Park Residents’ Association aims to be an active, democratic group working in two-way communication with our members, canvassing your opinions and listening to your views.
  • We will seek your opinions either via the website, our Facebook group, or through personal communications, and take your views forward to the appropriate organisations.
  • Issues may include refuse collection, crime, planning applications, trees, state of pavements, or anything else that affects Mapperley Park and which we as residents feel strongly about.

2.  We also aim to foster a sense of community and to improve community spirit and neighbourliness.

  • Twice a year we publish Mapperley Park News, a community newsletter issued free to all residents, whether they are members of the Association or not.
  • We organise social events where residents are able to gather.
  • A key role is to support other interests in the community, such as the Mapperley Park bi-annual Open Gardens event, Private Road residents, Neighbourhood Watch, and various other groups, service providers, and commercial interests that are part of our community.
  • We aim to work across all existing community groups such as churches, schools, police, and with local councillors to provide an integrated Maperley Park approach.

Most importantly, we will be listening organisation. The more members we have, the more effective we will be, so we hope you will join us and also spread the word.

We are always seeking enthusiastic residents to join our committee to help with ideas, and organisation.  If you are interested in helping, do please get in touch.

Membership costs just £10 per household per annum.
