MPRA Social Media Policy

The MPRA exists to promote the interests of members and other residents of Mapperley Park. It is proactive in raising specific issues of concern to residents in particular housing developments, public nuisance and crime and tree maintenance with Local Authority representatives and officials. It also seeks to promote community well being in a whole variety of ways which includes both formal eg Newsletters and informal eg Facebook.

MPRA is a voluntary organisation which relies heavily on its Committee members to organise and support the above activities. Clearly this requires judgement about how much support can be provided to members and residents. In some enquiries or requests it is sensible for MPRA to signpost other more formal advice bodies particularly when the issue is complex or contentious such as neighbours disputes, safeguarding, mental health matters or legal matters.

The Committee also reserves the right not to post stories on its Facebook which are of a repetitive nature or which involve animals unless the issue has not been resolved by other means in a sensible time frame. This is a matter of judgement but MPRA does recognise that its officers only have limited personal time available to discharge their voluntary duties.
